Community outreach is very important to us! We enjoy participating in local events dedicated to helping improve our society and fostering a sense of unity. In March of 2018, the staff of Hyde Park Veterinary Clinic participated in DogFest 2018. The event was to raise funds for Canine Companions for Independence, a US based 501 organization that trains and provides assistance dogs free of charge! Through our fundraising efforts we were able to raise $2,200 for the organization and we really enjoyed our beautiful day in the park!
Since 2009, Dr. Shelley Jensen has volunteered as a trip leader for World Vets, an NGO that provides spay/neuter surgeries and medical treatment for sick and injured animals living in impoverished communities around the world. Through her involvement with World Vets, Dr. Jensen has traveled to over 14 different countries and has assisted in improving the welfare of thousands of animals in these areas. Some of the places she has visited include Belize, Guatemala, Cambodia, Roatan, Nepal, St. Lucia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Peru, Turks and Caicos, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, and the Dominican Republic. Today, she continues to work with World Vets and considers animal welfare for all creatures throughout the world to be one of the most gratifying ways to spend her time.
